Bomb attack on journalist-Abhyanagar police station's silence..Is the police a protection for terrorists?
Own representative-
Journalist Md. Abul Basar, a member of the Jessore District Journalists Union's Abhaynagar Unit and a member of the Jessore District Journalists Union's Abhaynagar Unit, was bombed while returning from his professional duties. The journalist, who returned from the brink of death, is now going door to door in the hope of justice, and the Abhaynagar police station is maintaining a 'mysterious and naked silence'. Six days have passed since the incident, but the police investigation is only a waste of time.
The local journalist community believes that this inaction of the police is now only an indication of neglect of duty.
On June 28, 2026. The journalist Abul Basar was going to Nawapara Bazar in a van in front of the Sirajkati Noorani Madrasa on Nawapara College Road. The bomb attack was carried out unexpectedly from behind. Despite being the victim of this planned attack, the victim journalist is alive today because of his luck.
A case was filed with Abhaynagar Police Station on June 29, case no. 31, and six days later, there is no progress in the police records other than 'under investigation'.
After the attack, the journalists of Jessore District Journalists Union District Branch, Abhaynagar Unit, Nawapara Press Club gave the administration a 48-hour ultimatum to arrest the criminals. Two more days have passed since that deadline, but the Abhaynagar police have not budged. The question arises, are the terrorists above the law? Or is the Abhaynagar police administration, out of a long-standing habit, sacrificing the safety of the people by enslaving local political leaders again?
This 'slave-like' and indifferent role of the law enforcement forces is directly questioning the entire administrative system.
The victimized journalist is currently living in extreme insecurity, while the criminals are roaming around with bravery.
The journalistic community now wants to make one message clear—if the police administration maintains any kind of ‘political strategy’ or ‘collusion’ in the investigation of this case, the consequences will be dire. With the 48-hour ultimatum having passed, the journalistic community will no longer be limited to verbal protests.
If the terrorists who attacked are not arrested immediately, journalists will be forced to go on a larger program across the district, including Abhaynagar.
The question now is only one—will the police fulfill their legal duty, or will they be thrown into the dustbin of history as a protection shield for terrorists to satisfy their political masters? The time to answer is running out.
